Allium is the Latin word for garlic.
Forelock has 5cm to 8cm wide, globe-shaped flowers that grow to 8cm" around with an unruly tuft of white-tipped, maroon flowers exploding out of the top of its head, However, they really don't like to get waterlogged, so add a little grit to the soil when you plant them.
Flowering in May and June, the flowers are followed by skeletal seed heads for a spectacular autumn display. Undemanding and easy to grow, these purple alliums are guaranteed to add the 'wow' factor to borders and they make excellent cut flowers.
