Allium sphaerocephalon or round-headed garlic is a tall perennial, densely packed deep red-brown flowers form a striking backdrop to your border. The sphaerocephalon will reach its final growing height of around a metre within five years of planting.
The cylindrical, linear leaves surround the base of a sturdy stem which supports the distinctive umbrel of deep pink to red-brown flowers. This Summer flowering plant is happy in any well-drained soil in a sheltered spot in full sun.
Alliums always look their best when planted in clusters and after a few years can be easily divided. This is a hardy, easy to grow plant that will delight for many years with very little effort.
